"Tell--Me Some-thing Goooood.........."

February 11th, 2007 (04:25 am)
current song: Do you Realize? - The Flaming Lips

*shakes her butt and dances around the kitchen--still in her work shirt and Chucks*

My wonderful wonderful Donya and Randall have not only weathered the strife
of late
of Bar Ownership--they are...

Lemme e-splain, no there is too much, lemme sum up:

I got off early enough tonight to head down town. I had a Lonestar and Bulliet
at Casino's....chatted with my people for a bit, just enough time to catch the better part of
American Werewolf in London....and head back to pick up the bike in front of Beerland
for the cold ride home.

Randall was outside, keeping the peace. Some young upstart Skinheads had been
making trouble this night. Fights.....newbies. Rolls in fives. Years that is...
I got to hear his 10% theory about folks.
It is not
what you align yourself with
that makes you an ass-hole.

As a business (BAR) owner
he has a tolerance for all walks of life. There are simply those in every subset that are:

I thought of Stampy and Homer.

He and I both bundled up and headed for our bikes.
I was tucked in just in front of him....

The hot blond guy who is a professional photographer (I never remember his name)
the one in leather? Was a bit lit and introduced himself and his gal to me--as I was
talking with our Randall. Told me R owned Beerland. (Saturday nite) I nodded and
smiled at one of my best Friends in the Universe--and at the blond leather clad photo
dude I have been chatting with on and off through Roller Derby and god knows
what else...for about ten years?

Then the Photo-Dude asked: Hey, how's the new bar coming along?

My now helmet clad head, whipped around to Randall.

Yeah. Randall grinned.
Wanna see it?

I followed his cool motor bike, much faster than my little Frances La Vino...
To 1308 East 6th Street.
He unlocked the door of a place, about to Be.

*happy sigh*

Donya's Place.

They kept an existing name....She is called: RiO RiTA!
It is simply gorgeous.

Kitsch, wooooooooonderful Kitsch.
Sandwiches and soup, and coffee....and drinks and........

Oh god the furniture, the signs, the art.......THE FURNITURE.

*bounce bounce--happy sigh*

The Boy has his punk-club, and she has weathered and worked hard beside
him, for THE dream, THE venue. Supported and and believed. (i have never met two
people who made me believe in love, more. And they are even married. Been together
since they were teenagers. i love them. They are my hope, over and over. Always.)

The little post card Randall gave me reads:

IT's A GIRL!!!
Donya and Randall Are Proud to Announce The Arrival
Of Beerland's New Little Sister
1308 East 6th Street
SAT. FEB 17, 2 PM

We zoomed away on our motorbikes....
He went left, and I went right--on Pleasant Valley.

It was cold, and the wind was in my face.
I grinned like a madman.
Heart pounding.

It was that kind of night.

When heroes are acknowledged.

*HOWLS with laughter*

I slipped on some spilled vinaigrette when I was taking a beer out on a tray
to my table huddled out on the porch in the cold under the space heater--I literally
had my feet go out from under me. (Chucks)
I tucked, landed on my knees, (yes, they have already both blackened with bruise)
I grabbed the beer as I went down.

Left hand with tray, right hand grabbed the beer--left hand released the tray
to the ground. I ground my teeth at the pain, holding a White Blue Moon wheat beer
with a slice of orange... aloft in my right hand, like Prometheus
on my now shattered knees, in my bad shoes--that I adore for 'their story'.
The beer was Unspilled.

The entire six-top stood and applauded.
(silly kids)

When you love what you do, good things actually DO happen.

*smirks a bit, and rubs her knees*

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DONYA!!! (it was the 3rd, and I only remembered tonight
when I saw your hubby--it shot through my brain like a nasty 'DOH!'
I don't like forgetting your B-day.)

And Happy Happy Happy Birthday to RIO RITA!
I will find someone to cover my shift.
I can't miss this.

*squeezes and grins*

There is no wealth, other than Friends.
Anyone who argues--is a fool.

Yet another reason to come back to Austin

(of course, I just found my beerland sticker and it's going on my bike in the next few days)

How strange! One of my other friends on my Flist made reference to that same song that the title of this entry is, on HER journal entry.

1308 e 6th?

is that on the other side of 35?

I think I read about this in the chron... apparently condos are ruining red river.... theyre "moving" red river...?

Yep, it used to be Club Sirenitos, funky colors. I think Chris Gray wrote about in TCB at the end of December.

Condos going in at the old Reddy Ice location might wind up gentrifying Red River ala the 4th Street Warehouse District.

monkey king ramen

I guess that's one place I'll be seeing when I visit in March, eh? I suppose it'd be easier for me to just get a hotel close to 6th, eh?

I just realized that we live down the road from each other, Ginger! Granted, sixteen or so hours down the road, but down the road nonetheless! Isn't I-35 grand?

X-tian used to say that...

That from MN it was only five turns from his house to my house.

That was 14 years ago.
(he gave me Livejournal, and I just realised, has deleted his.)

Man, I've seen the work it is though....
Those two kids have been through hell and back.

But when it is YOUR BABY, I suppose it makes it all worthwhile.
