I found my Mooninite Band Pin!!!

February 4th, 2007 (09:44 pm)

And I shall wear it to work every day, every day, every day.

Shake gave it to me.
Last SXSW.

And Boston, despite its LOVERLY museums...

Perhaps I have grown soft--in a Town where such things are not panicked over...
but stolen. Hung proudly in homes.

I am reminded of a young man who was in the Air Force in Germany, when my Father
was stationed there with us. 1987. The young man went to Flugtag...
a day when locals are allowed onto the base of Ramstein, for the Air Show.

He brought his camera bag, a large one with many lenses, he wanted to take pictures.
For whatever reason, he decided he needed to leave it for a bit..................
so he chained it neatly to a tree.

*head in hands*

GERMANY, 1987.
We did bomb drills at my frackin' HIGH SCHOOL back then.

Yeah.
The bomb squad cleared the area, contained the bag....and blew it up.
He is probably still suffering the sentence he was given.

Mmmmmmmaybe that is not a good example.
But the lack of actual harm is there.

What idiot, I think--wouldn' t KNOW what that was???

People who are afraid.

Afraid of a Light-Brite figure with a finger up?

As fast as technology makes miracles happen on cell phones............
It descends into dark places.

So much, so fast, so wonderful and so bleak.

Mass communication, so many left in the dark.

I got my first computer 6 years ago.
September of 2000.

I didn't understand what a search engine was...I plugged in the .com's off any product
I came across......just to understand.

Just to play with this strange thing I had.

xoidimal plugged me into Livejournal.

I began to learn.

WE ARE LIVING IN THE INFORMATION AGE.
truly.

But we are not all informed.

Me, the girl who at 36 has never had a bank account or owned a car....
I can understand, a bit, how one must feel looking on a world that is spinning
faster than one can swallow.

Livejournal is the ONLY reason I can navigate this world, we take for granted.
It made me learn, because it was something I wanted, wanted to use and understand.

Getting SciFi on us, Friends.
The media escalated the issue......but it is all from fear.

Fear of................

I champion the idea of marketing like that--it INVOLVES people.
We get to nod, and grin.

My favourite joke.
Shared.

But we insulate ourselves with our smug knowledge.
And as I am disdainful of the reaction in Boston, can......understand.

Every computer I have ever had, was a gift.
I would never have gone out...and gotten one.

My Father handed me a Toshiba lap-top on my 30th birthday
and asked me to JOIN THE WORLD.

It sat still on my table for six months.......until angrystan took it home
and made it Ginger-Friendly.

And with much crying and cursing, on my part, he taught me how to use it.

Still, I will wear my pin.
Because I do understand.

I'm in the club that cannot understand, why that was not understood.

But I wander off with my no-cell-phone-self and also know...
This world is suffering from growing pains. The bones ache.
The skin cannot grow fast enough to keep from scarring.

The media is a hound.
Every orbit around the dog...is rabbit.

The future is now.

Oh yeah, and Sean was trying for "menacing" when he came to deliver the mug. I told him I didn'tthink he could pull of menacing with a trench coat and a slouchy hat.

Bubble of Serenity

Mostly, he looked nervous.

But don't tell him.
He was quite charming, and had been in twice.

And the future is always now, you git.
When they were deciding finger prints were legit,
or DNA...........

Now THAT, that is menacing.

Swallow it?
Swallow it all I must.

......So how bad do you think GHOST RIDER is going to be?

I think it's gonna suck for a number of reasons:

1) Nicholas Cage
2) Directed by the guy who directed Daredevil
3) Nicholas Cage
4) They're using the Johnny Blaze storyline but the other guy's outfit and I don't think they quite get the character.
5) Roxanne Page is not a brunette!
6) Nicholas Cage

And yet, Where will I be Saturday afternoon? that's right, in my seat, eating my Reeses Pieces and complaining loudly.

Bee

Well sir.

1) yeah.

2) what the hell?? I love that movie??!!!

3) yeah

4) I know. Wasn't a big reader as a kid, did the research for the flick...
You know me, can't walk into The Alamo (draft house) unarmed...

5) Red head, right?

6) dear god...I know.

Rocky Page was a blonde (and, before she became a heroin junkie/porn star, she also dated good old Matt Murdock).

See, I own every bleeding appearance of Johnny Blaze. I grew up idolizing the character.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Nicholas Cage?

Sorry.

Of course, ask me about any other character and you've got fifty/fifty of kicking my ass, so I think it's fair.

No...the future is that moment before now. I was trying to sound all profound and shit and now, in the present, I just can't pull it off.

...Thank you, for this...it's hard, for me at least, to get my head into that place. I've been awfully acerbic in the past few days about this whole situation...I forget that my paradigm is not everyones.

Antid0te's

All my Friend's phone numbers are written down
in a journal I carry around in my big red bag.

I love when I exchange an email address....and I whip out my book with a pen.
And they stare for a few moments, before gazing down at the palm held universe.

I'm slow, but I'll get there, well....
I will get to where I want to be.
