I spent today...Well.

December 23rd, 2006 (01:36 am)

Left with change.

(do people chuckle any more?)

I had the last of my shopping to do.
Meaning...the only shopping besides Benjamin's nieces.

My Benjamin, my Mum and Pop and Brother...and Brother's Wife, and their son.

I haven't shopped much.
I hate shopping.

I am a dreadful consumer.
I simply do not consume my share.
Not bragging...just true.
I don't shop.

I like to shop for food.
I will spend hours doing it when I can...

But STUFF--I am very bad at buying STUFF.

I settled on a THEME.
all local stuff.

I only had my immediate Family left to find stuff for...

I decided on TESOROS.
Far from LOCAL.
But a wonderful shop that supports the villages and individuals it is supplied by......
A WHOLE STUFF sort of shop. *laughs*

And it is on the corner about to be mowed down..........
They will have to move.
They have been there since I have lived in Austin--and longer I am sure.
A sky scraper will replace them.

Austin is waving its fist--but the City has its own ideas.

I got presents for my whole Familia there.
A Lucha Libre mask for my Nephew.
A largish wooden Vietnamese frog...that is a musical instrument (Loretta collects frogs)
for my Sister in Law.
A bamboo chopping block, endurable--and wildly renewable...for my Chef Brother.
A gorgeous silver and black tasseled Bolivian scarf, heavy with work...gorgeous. For
My Mum. Really, she got the best thing. I keep handling it...It matches her hair. I love it.

And for Pop?
Pop was the hardest.
I looked and looked.

I left and went to many other places.

But I really wanted to keep the TESOROS theme.
My Father--retired USAF Lt Col, Retired American Airlines Pilot, and now...
Volunteer Civil Air Patrol Lt. Colonel????

I walked back, because it would get crushed in the scooter trunk.
I'd seen it--and handled it the three times I had been in the store...
I bought the Air Plane made of a Vietnamese Pepsi can.

Propeller spins when you blow on it.

A theme is a Theme.
And somehow...this seems wildly well enough.
The man certainly is familiar with the country of origin.

And by the way--Vietnamese Pepsi cans are WAY prettier than ours.
They have hanami, Cherry Blossoms on them.

Oh My, Yes.........
and the rest of the evening?

I met the Lady my First Love--Loves.
She's a Gem.

She makes me smile.

Is Las Manitas still there, or is that getting the ball, too?

Damn them. Damn them all to HELL!

I like you too!

We can both be Gems together.

It makes me happy to know and like all of Bill's people, but you are the most important to him, so this makes me extra super happy. :)
