The House The House The House....

June 25th, 2006 (10:38 pm)

I cannot stop thinking about the House.

When I was a kid, my Family never lived in a house this nice...

I think Bertha thought we were kids...I think she will be surprised
to learn we are 36 and 35.
I was surprised to find out that I make nearly as much as a Dell Supervisor...
being a waitress at a popular pub.

I tucked a few of my pay stubs into the envelope, with our application, and my hand
written note to Bertha on my leopard print stationary...
I want her to KNOW--we are what she is looking for, too.

We will take such good care of her house.
I love it for all the reasons she does.

She wants us to meet with she and her husband, she said, and glanced at me...
You understand, it is about making a decision TOGETHER,
so later, no one is to blame?
She laughed.
I grinned at her, and looked at my Benjamin. He grinned back.

That little manila package we dropped off....
Full of all of our information.
A personal note.
ANYTHING I could think of to make us the first pick.
The couple who wins.

It's our House.

My KitchenAid is already sitting on that pale blue silver flecked Formica counter.
My MIKASA coffee cups, swinging on those cup hooks behind the glass.

I'm giving treats to the kids on the street, October 31st, when the air smells of Maple
gum balls and sweet leaves.

Look....all I'm saying is....it's just kind of PERFECT that my lease ends at the end of this

In good standing, with a perfect record, I will leave my Tree House of 6 and a half years.
Timing is everything.

He's the Boy for Me.
We dropped our application off on his Harley today.
He fixed it this morning, the timing had been off.
It ran smooth and clean when he was finished.

I gave him a haircut with the clippers, and bit his ears.
Cleaned up the back to a nice square,
beside the machine he'd spent all morning on
in the garage.

Then I jumped on back of the machine...
Envelope in my bag, smile on my face.

Red lipstick marks on the back of his cleanly shaved neck....
he had said, so I did.

And we roared off to our future.

we are in such a similar situation... i know how hard it is to find the perfect place, and how being with the perfect man (the one who you want to wake with and sleep with every single day) makes the perfect place that much more perfect. being in love is terrible, isn't it? ;)

You need to warn someone before you say something like that. I now have to clean coffee off my nice new screen!

Oh, GINGER!! This is wonderful news. So happy for you.

Funnily enough we are looking for a house too. You would love him, I think. It's great to know you have "a keeper."
