*Knock Knock Knock...on Wood*

June 25th, 2006 (01:28 pm)

*Pssst*

I think we found it.
It's everything we were looking for in a place, and so much more.
Well within our price range, and just GORGEOUS.

3 bedrooms, a great fenced in yard for Maggie, and...
well it's just GORGEOUS. Circa 1962 with wildly well maintained
original fixtures.

Yes--my kitchen ROCKS. Pale blue flecked formica counters, fabulous
gas stove, pleeeeenty of cabinets even glassed in ones to display
some of my fun stuff that's been hidden away for years.
*happy sigh*

The living room has this amazing wood paneling, not that crap from
the 70s--REAL wood paneling, pale-ish and grained, SO 1962!
Shelves and shelves--NICE shelves, not makeshift ones.

What isn't original has been carefully reproduced.
It's a vintage freakin' HOUSE--DREAMY!
The bathroom!!!
*swoons*

AND...it's a mile from my work and about a mile and a half
from Annie and Helen's place!!!
(It's on Catalina, Ladies. ^_^)

And about 300 dollars under what we were willing to spend a month.
DUDE.
Send us the good vibes, People, PLEASE--pray to what ever gods you
believe in...

This is the PLACE.
We walked up, hadn't even SEEN the inside, just walked around it
(two car garage, plenty of room for the Harley, the '59 MGA Coupe,
and Thelonious! ((The truck can live outside! *laughs*))) and we grabbed
each other and giggled.

I could Feeeeeeeeeel it.

And when Bertha arrived to show us around, we managed without meaning to,
to say all the right things. I squealed when I saw the paneling--ran my hands
over and just babbled about how gorgeous it was. She laughed and said the last
folks had asked if they could paint it all over white. *CRINGE!*
She was very happy to find me so enthusiastic about elements of the place
that had been an issue with others. I LOVED...what SHE loved about the
place.

There's even an original fire-alarm that requires WINDING!
She assured us that there was a modern one--she just couldn't
bring herself to take the old one down...AND WHY?
It's perfect FORM AND FUNCTION from it's day...

It's sooooo CUTE I squealed again to Benjamin, and Bertha parroted
my noise back, laughing. "Sooooo Cute!"

This house obviously belongs to people who care about WHO lives in it.
It could be renting for so much more.
I know...I know Ben and I are the right People.

We turn in our app today.
Cross your fingers for us please?

Househunting? Suddenly I realize I've skimmed so much, it (coincidentally) feels like today's Doonesbury:

(And am I the only one who thinks "yarn theory," besides being a good malapropism, is from the way he's staring at her sweater?)

"I dunno, it just wound up here, I guess."
stain

Oh, and good luck, tho that wind-up fire alarm is a troubling concept. It implies a history of wind-up fires.

I dunno, it lives at the farm with his Mum.
I haven't seen it yet!

a '59 something or other...you know me and cars.

*shrugs*

He's very excited about getting it back in Town, and me sitting in it
wearing a leopard print scarf and cat eyed sunglasses.
