Summer Summer Summer...

June 22nd, 2006 (04:20 am)
current song: What's New-John Coltrane

Today, the Longest Day.

Tomorrow, I finally have a day off--after 7 solid days.
It rattles one. I hadn't even realised it had been SEVEN solid days....
Until I got home and glanced at my calendar tonight.

I suddenly understood why I felt, like I did.
Why I was going a little crazy?

I haven't held Ben in ages...when, when was the last time???
We are on the opposite sides of the dial. To the hour.
He wakes when I crash, I walk into work as he leaves.

That stupid new Keanu Reeves film is starting to interest me...
Two years apart--yeah, it feels like that.

I walked into my apartment tonight and it felt foreign, again...
I had no idea how much the sound of that little rotary fan made this place home.
I have my iTunes plugged in tonight, music...because the silence is too silent in here

so much is happening, so much I want to acknowledge...
I can't find the focus, or the energy.

I don't feel clever tonight, I don't feel even remotely 'profound'.
The weight is just dragging me down, mundane fatigue.

I'm so tired.
But I can't sleep.

OH--But Jaq, I got your....Present.
My Dearest skidspoppe......
I got your present today when I checked my mail box as I was heading off to work.
I stuck the letter in my bag, with a package from my Parents....

Stopped at the corner store for a RED BULL and a pack of Camel Ultra Lites,
and raced Thelonious to the place where I carry beers for a living.

I sat outside, took a few moments to read my mail and take a cigarette with my little
blue-&-silver can of false energy.

I pulled the sticky closure open and pulled out the page, thick with something...
Two Origami Cranes fell into my hand.

My eyes filled. I laughed out loud, very loudly.
Very Very Loudly--and wiped my face, grinning.
Your page, in bold print said:

Hope these help.

One for you, one for ben

Just pull on the wings and
blow in the bottom (you

Moments later, Helen walked up the hill wearing a blue T-shirt with a big upper-case
white 'G' on it. Did you walk here??? I demanded of her instantly, baffled.

"No no"--she said, "Annie is inside."

Annie was inside. She was wearing a Betty Boop T-Shirt.
They both laughed and asked me if I had noticed they were both wearing Ginger
Themed shirts.

*head in hands laughing*

WHO, I ask WHO??? Gets Friends like this in their Life???
They had hit the cool SAVERS in town (thrift store) and found a few fun things...
Annie was wearing some killer Levis, cuffed like I like's 'em--HOT ANNIE!!!
And they had found some GINGER THEMED SHIRTS.

I showed them Jaq's letter.
They both agreed that we need to have a CRANE folding party...
Hope for all.

A wish for EVERYONE.

I finally opened the little package from my Parents.

It makes a loud chirpy noise and has a flashing light, it's a key chain.
It is something I know my Mum ran across and just sent my way....
So her little Girl who leaves a bar at 3 AM most nights...might be a little safer.

A gesture I held close to my heart, and handed off to nearly every begging waiter,
and the GM--to TRY!

It was set off by everyone there, I think.
I can't imagine it being useful in any real sense,
but the gesture was wildly appreciated, and talked about all night.

All want to meet, my "Cool Folks."

Yeah, it's been a long long week.
But as I plug in my day, tonight, and think about the wealth I have...
in all I care about, who care for me?

It's just good.

Very Verrrrrry GOOD.

Jaq, I will have to fold every single one of the thousand to get my wish.
Those are the rules.
(Quiet You, I'm a Virgo AND a Dog.)
But those two Cranes, one Green and one Red....
Will hang in our Home from a thread, always a reminder.

They're tucked away, for when Ben and I have our space.
Our Place.

Where you and Joan will always have a comfortable place to stay, in Austin.
Any Any Any time.

Even SXSW!

Come Come Come visit Us.

We'll all go to Annie and Helen's and fold Cranes.

Edit I was looking for the old text--found this.

How I love Myth & Comic Books...
I was looking for the bit about the two cleaved in half...

This...this is, well it is what it is.
A very different opening to Aristophanes' Speech from Plato's Symposium

Much more fun than the dry one I was searching for.

The Story I was looking for, The Story many of us are looking for.

Honour the gods?

I will battle The Sisters til the end.

They battle with me.

They wink too much.

I wince.

Have you found your half that was missing?
Have you found it and lost it?

I've sworn for years this myth was shit, with Joe Campbell
ringing in my ears.

I don't want what I'm supposed to want.
I want HIM.

I know.

It's hard.
It's hard to believe that Ginger Lynn Stevens has fallen.

Tonight I saw him for a few moments before he had to go and sleeeeeeeeeep.

He took my hair in his hands and pulled it back.
Like it was short.
Grinned at me.

I wanted to eat him.

die7fox is going to tell me to LJ cut this........
Benton, I am sorry it is so long.

lived in THIS place before.

Not ever.

A drum is pounding in my ear buds...

And I want something..........I want it with all my Self.
And this time, I get to have it.

See you Soon, Benjamin.
My Thursday OFF.

I am hanging, by finger tips...
the hang of it.

I was BORN on a Thursday.
Thursday's Child has Far to Go.

You beat me to it Jaq. I've been holding onto the cranes I made for her until I saw her again. Great minds think alike I guess.

Many Things at Once

Don't think of it as the Keanu Reeves movie, think of it as the new Linklater movie, or the latest Hollywood Co-opting of Philip K. Dick, but looking at it as the new Keanu Reeves movie is painting the devil on the wall.

At least as Thursday's child you have something to look forward to. Monday's child is fair of face. Okay, so now what?

Placebo has this nifty song (they have many, actually) called "Protect Me From What I Want," as well as the français version "Protege Moi." It seems as if this would be one of your theme songs right now.

Maybe I should pick you up one of the myriad Red Bull shirts here in Bangkok. They're cheap, and this is where the stuff is from. if you want one, do you want t-shirt or tank?

Consider it bought, woman. as for the answer to your question, I'm not sure. I had an answer, but I'll have to change it!

No sweat, spice grrrl.

Re: Many Things at Once

I reckon so, but it would have to stay at home. It won't travel well. And it would have to be big enough to fit over the dreads. I got a stylized cowboy hat made for me in Dallas a few years back.
