What a pleasant evening...

June 13th, 2006 (03:57 am)

I went in at 6 PM, rested and ready for my 9 hour shift.
Monday, a MONDAY--I never work on Monday, let alone close...
but the whole night had a festive ring to it.

Folks were in good spirits, the tide was steady and calm.
I had a rhythm that gave me time to dote on each table and chat and charm
to enjoy the folks who came in....

My percentage reflected this.
(See Also: G--Banked.)

I wish every night could be like tonight.
The stories and the comeraderie... time to make suggestions, and bring out tasters.
Time to make sure everyone was comfortable and happy.

I know, one doesn't get nights like tonight often--I absorbed it.
And every once in a while, while I was standing at the wait station for drinks...
my mind would wander and a grin would crawl across my face.

Looking out those huge glass windows onto the green of South Austin that covers
the neighborhoods--you know they are there, but the trees won't tell.
My hill at Penn Field...Opal Divine's that looks out onto all the green of South Congress.

Cheryl and Liza, the bartenders tonight, would laugh at me--and plunk down the round
to load onto my tray. "Look at her, isn't she AWEFUL?" (they know, they know the Boy... ^_^)

My feet hurt, I wore silly shoes tonight...I didn't care.
I was on the back of a Harley--full moon lolling in the sky off my left shoulder...
I was far far away.

I've always felt that fast food was bad for you more because of the unsatisfied hands
that had made it--than anything intrinsically part of the ingredients.
You ingest part of the energy of the person who makes what you eat--as surely
as you do the substance of the food.

My tables drank happy tonight, every glass.
It was batted about like a balloon...a beach ball!

*laughing*

I know, the sap--the UNBRIDLED sap... I can't help it.
I'm going to feel this, every bit of it. I refuse to retract.

(metaphor mix master--in the house.)

That Boy....
That Boy is gonna be the Life of me, I swanny....

*GRINS TIL CHEEKS ACHE*

sweet!

shame neither of my favorite waitresses will work there.
I looked at the web site, but I see no mention of a new location.
where is this new one located?

Re: sweet!

It's at the intersection of Parmer and Mopac in the Frye's shopping center.

Do you know where the old Sea Island Shrimp House is located? It's going to be in that building. There's a sign on the side that says Opal Divine's Marina Coming Soon.
