I walked out in the middle of X-Men The Last Stand...

May 28th, 2006 (01:28 am)

I may be projecting.
I may be letting my hormones take the leash...this close to "menses."

But I just couldn't sit through it with a Saturday Night Crowd at the Alamo South...
who didn't even snort when Logan called The Beast fur-ball.

not even a snort...

I don't want to throw down any spoilers this early in the week.

When that thing happened that we all heard rumoured, and Storm wrapped her arms
around Wolverine...and I felt the saltwater well in my throat, and turn to tears...
while those around me finally DID snort?
I looked
over at my date.

He was fast asleep.

Seconds later, the guy came by to ask if we needed anything else, I took the check
and laid a 20 on a 12 dollar tab, woke my date.

I think we should go.

I didn't feel too terribly guilty about him having picked up the price of the tickets...
I don't think he cared about the end.

We all work hard, we all get tired.
But some things have to stay sacred.

In this overcomplicated world...a few things have to stay holy, though they be silly.
I didn't want to see this with them, I didn't want to see this ALONE with them.

First Comic Book Movie I didn't see on opening day. I love opening day.
I love opening day at the Alamo South.......My People!!!

I went to see ELECTRA by myself....because I would not suffer it on any of my friends.
But I sat in there with 8 other of my ilk, spread out at a matinee at Westgate Cinema.

We groaned in unison.
We groaned in unison.

He's asleep behind me, I don't think he understood.

I tried to explain: See it's more than those paper pages and the costumes, the Super
Heroes have been my mythology since I was 10--it wasn't my parents, it wasn't anything
but me....When the child looks out the window and the Angel is flying away? C'mon it's
the SAME kid from ULTRAVIOLET?
Playing a maddeningly similar role. We as humans, human nature, STOMP on our
ability to achieve those places beyond tedium. In an odd way, this is the religion
I chose.

(I didn't explain it EXACTLY like that...*sigh*)

He smiled, beautiful face, tired eyes: I accept your explanation. He said.
And closed his eyes to sleep on my futon...or, play opossum.
I think the later.
He's tired of arguing with women.

I'm just
A Girl.

I don't want to be another woman
who argues with him.

*bangs head*
*bangs head*
*bangs head*

I sort of want to choke him.
Which wouldn't be fair at all...because he is already snoring.

*flexes her choking muscles*

I don't know why he wants to have dogs and cats and ride a bicycle all over creation
and camp for no good reason.

I don't really want to kayak. I can't even spell it...can I?

Furry things make me break out in welts...and not breathe.
I'm pretty sure Kayaking would be much the same.

Why does he want me?
Why do I want him?

It just happens every day.
Every day I wake up, and I am happy.

Over and over.
It just happens every day.
We get our

I do want him, and I have had dreams
of righting myself in the water.
Turning that fucker back up, for air.
I use my muscles.
I'm wet and happy, and breathing hard.

Hands white-knuckle on something other than a tray or a keyboard.
A paddle.

Of course he fell asleep............
It wasn't real.

My adventures are on paper.
My Heroes are ideas.

My Heroes have always been Ideas.

My love, he is a FLESH person.

Ground and Flesh.
I am paper.

He is sleeping restlessly behind me.

We had little conversation when we came back to my place.

I asked him to look me in the eyes.
You call me the perfect girl, surely you must know that the perfect girl
would have a few eccentricities?

He smiled and kept his eyes closed.

Mismatched and unbalanced....we whisper forever to each other.

I just want tomorrow.

And a paddle.

I think it meant more than I realised tonight...........
when I walked out on my SUPER HERO movie.

I don't want to know the end.
This is my Story.

Look Out

There was more invested in that moment than...
Comic Books.

I am just wrapping my head around that now.

Still, what you say--so true.
It's gotta be right.

Actually... did you stay past the credits?

And yeah... despite my issues with the movie, I needed to see it in the company of others who got it.

the movies aren't the papers, ginger. they're for the people who don't know any better than that.

the movies are only based on stories, you know that.

i haven't seen it yet (i'm pretty ashamed of that fact)

I hear tell Cyclops dies near the begining of the film - that alone makes the movie for me.

Go see it, wish I could see it with you.
I'll catch it again later this week, matinee by myself I think.

So when are you going to leave that horrid VEGAS Town of yours
and come somewhere fun???

Miss you.

Congratulations for your decision to keep the sacred. I saw it this evening, after hearing how much it sucked. What? It was thoroughly wonderful. I got misty a couple of times. The people in the theater were cutting up at the misty parts. Fuck them. Very happy to see more characters from the classic period of the XMen. The Beast was there from the beginning!

A Basket Case

I think I will just go alone some time during the afternoon this week...
It is going to be hard to avoid overhearing the out come, though.

Silly Ginger.
Such strange things become important to me.

I saw it alone. I think I might try to do another matinee today.

I have yet to be in a country that's playing it yet.

So are you going to go see it again with the appropriate folks, or are you going to wait until DVD. I'm going crazy not being able to see it.

I will go alone I think, a matinee.

What a weird chunk of disonance this little movie has caused me.
