Brilliant Evening, Simply Brilliant!

May 25th, 2006 (02:37 am)

Busy, but balanced--the flow was perfect, I was on and my service was clever and
timely......FINALLY. I have been having rough days of late, I think from pure exhaustion.
But my two days off (quite literally spent almost entirely in my robe) have rejuvinated
my body and my mind.

I made money, I made friends, I made people happy.

Well, a tipple or two before I crash, and have yet ANOTHER day off tomorrow.

Seriously though; I had a good HAIR night, my lipstick didn't bleed, my knees didn't
ache...and everyone adored me. To think I left the house in such a morose mood?

I wore my 8 hole Doc Martins tonight, for the first time at Opals. I don't know why I
dragged them out of the closet--but they really did the trick. I need to buy some boots
for this job, the ankle support is what I think I have been missing. It did wonders for my
entire body tonight.

I just baby the old Doc's these days....they are 15 years old--you know, when they were
made properly??? I have always kept them oiled and the leather is still in excellent
shape for it's age....the soles are worn smooth in places but no holes have yet to
appear. But I know they only have a little bit of solid life left in them, so I don't drag them
out very often anymore.

People who say Doc's are bad shoes to work on your feet in, or that they wear out too
fast? They never had a real pair. I tell this to people and they insist that I simply have
not WORN them enough....My Friends, these boots have been my primary work shoe
for at least 7 jobs over the years, where I spent the day on my feet.

They have been worn.
I have taken care of them.
But they have been WORN.

Okay, enough about my Darling Docs...

I had the strangest table tonight. They came in almost as I did, at 5 PM. They dwindled
and the faces swapped out a few times--but a core of the original 15 top were three
men from Deutschland who sat there with me for nearly my ENTIRE shift.

It was a mixed group of language when they began, and all were tickled (it was a group
of Engineers) when I could say thank-you-you're-welcome-and-such
in Mandarin, Nihongo and Deutsch. *GRINS* Hooray FATHER, for always making
sure your Children were polite--no matter where we were.

Much fun was had by all, and they were so charming that my Manager bought their last
round--which just sent them into a barrage of Thank-yous, and what a lovely Town and
how FRIENDLY everyone was.....

Yay! Got to be a swell Ambassador for Austin tonight.
It was a VERY good night, and that table was still nearly half of what I took home.

There was just something in the Aire tonight.... I ran into an old Friend, Kelly, from my
Z-Tejas days almost ten years ago! She came tearing up to me as I was pulling drinks
from the wait station--we jabbered and squealed, and I told her I would find her when
I had taken care of my tables. I went to my freshly sat 4 top at the end of the booths
inside, and of course it was she and her friends. Kismet.

I was just thinking about her two days ago, wondering how she was, where she
was.... We always had good chemistry as work friends, and only a couple of times got
to spend time with each other outside of work. I missed her, so....

*Smiles at The Sisters with her head cocked curiously*

My heart was so heavy when I left for work today, I have hurt someone close to me....
It seems somewhat twisted that I should have had such a wonderful evening.

But I'll Take It.

Again, Thank-you Ladies.

*wonders what they are REALLY up to*

I know, I know. But I had to glance. I'm feeling good tonight after biking half way across Austin and back with the bicycle crew.

You waited on my friends from AMD I think. Lots of Germans in that crew probably.
