Cassandra told me, Pandora Rox...

January 7th, 2006 (03:02 am)
current song: If My Heart Was a Car (LIVE), Old 97's

It's my year again.

The 29th of January is the Chinese New Year, and I am a Dog.

1994 was the last one, and damn...that was ONE fine year.
LOVEJOYS opened on the 21st of January, though they celebrate the 14th
of February.

Club Love and all...
The Owner is a Dragon.
Born on Chistmas.

*laughs a little*

I moved into 24 Flats on the 1st of September that year, and celebrated my
24th birthday on the 10th.

Chip showed and brought me a case of Guinness Pub-Draught cans, and four
LOVEJOYS pint glasses with a pack of Camel Wide Lights stuck in the top.

I have one of those glasses left, the rest are broken.
But I still have one.

I smoked the fatties back then...
Made me feel like Marylin Monroe.

I looked like my Icon back then...
*sniffs and giggles*
Didn't I?

He took that picture.
He lived in an efficiency way back then, and it was a darkroom.
TinFoil on the windows.

Steven moved in, that October...came all the way from Northern California.
We listened to NPR radio and read books on our used couch from St Vincent's.

We didn't have a TV, and we didn't use the AC.

I wrote in red ink, and lived in the black.

Steven and I were learning about the World, and it was good.

He'd escaped, I had saved him....and I had escaped.
He had saved me.

He rode the green belt on his bicycle like a monster--
Cleaned the mud off it every night.

I found a whole UNIVERSE out there off 6th street.

Our worlds didn't cross paths until we walked through that door.
#207, 24 Flats.

We ate meals and talked, we sat in comfortable silence.
The boy who taught me 931 was finally home.

We weren't lovers, we loved each other.
If a person has Salad Days, those were mine.

He's dead now.
And I haven't really been very good at any of this since then,
a day can take so much out of you.

But I am a superstitious bear.
Cannot that be good?

It's my Year.
Year of the Dog.

*laughs at herself*

Yes, the bear is a Dog.

Loyal. Guarding what she loves. I bite.
Pack animal...Family.

I don't like dogs. They give too much away, they are embarrassing.
They need too much.

I'd rather be a cat, like my little brother the TIGER.

Just now, looked us up:

Tiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy. They can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in a poor, hasty decision or a sound decision arrived at too late. They are suspicious of others, but they are courageous and powerful. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons, and Dogs

People born in the Year of the Dog possess the best traits of human nature. They have a deep sense of loyalty, are honest, and inspire other people's confidence because they know how to keep secrets. But Dog People are somewhat selfish, terribly stubborn, and eccentric. They care little for wealth, yet somehow always seem to have money. They can be cold emotionally and sometimes distant at parties. They can find fault with many things and are noted for their sharp tongues. Dog people make good leaders. They are compatible with those born in the Years of the Horse, Tiger, and Rabbit.

I guess that explains why me and that cat have gotten on so good for so many years.

Can't buy that first line, for the this Dog.....
I do my best.

OH six...........
Be kind.
BE my Year.

I need it.

Hong Kong Phooey

Huh. I'm a Tiger.
And I will back up that bears being dogs thing. Y'know, until someone points out that I am an engineer and not a zoologist.

I'm a Rabbit, but I think that's more coincidental than explanatory

People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.

Mmm, I'm a dog too. 1982 vintage.
I don't go in for astrology and such, but I guess the dog is better than the ram, my western zodiac sign. I never felt that Aries was anything close to what I am. Neither does the dog really. But at the description of people born in the year of the dog sounds better. I'm a fan of dogs though. The animals, not those born in the dog years. Not that I have anything against people born in the year of the dog that I don't have against people in general. Most people in general at least.

I used to like camel wides a lot. Far better than 100's. They feel better than regular sized cigarettes too. I guess I still do, but the delusion that regular cigarettes aren't as bad for me makes me feel better. Same reason I don't roll my own anymore, except once in a while when I can get to a decent tobacco shop that has decent rolling tobacco. Eh, I enjoy talking about smoking too much.

I don't know about this...

People born in the Year of Ram are elegant and highly accomplished in the arts. They seem to be, at first glance, better off than those born in the zodiac's other years. But ram year people are often shy, pessimistic, and puzzled about life. They are usually deeply religious, yet timid by nature. Sometimes clumsy in speech, they are always passionate about what they do and what they believe in. Ram people never have to worry about having the best in life for their abilities make money for them, and they are able to enjoy the creature comforts that they like. Ram people are wise, gentle, and compassionate. They are compatible with Rabbits, Pigs, and Horses.

Inner animal? Secret animal? Element?

Apparently, you can be one of 8640 combinations, beyond just "a dog".

Apparently, I am perceived by others as a rabbit, think that I'm a pig, and my secret animal(true self) is the dragon. I am governed by the wood element, meaning I am creative and nurturing.

This is all from Wikipedia
