When I was on the set of Wickerman, I had sort of an inkling in advance that my titanium engagement ring probably wasn't going to jive, and as there was no way I was going to leave it somewhere on set apart from my person, I simply left it at home. However, on set I met quite a few women with rings which they literally could not remove. I was sort of thinking, "buwah? How do you let yourself have a ring you can't remove?" I always take off my rings to wash my hands, shower, etc. For one thing it's not sanitary, shit, et al will build up under the ring, for another it's unhealthy, water will not dry properly under the ring and you can get infections (my mother got them.) One woman I met was like, "Well, it's a heirloom ring, and I don't want to destroy it to take it off." but I keep thinking, you're cutting off circulation to that finger, that's no good.

I can't imagine someone stupid enough to let it get to the point of the picture you've now posted. At what point do these people fail to go, "Hurm, this probably isn't so healthy for me..." Then again people put peices of metal through their penises and labia, so there's no accounting for taste. "Only two things are infinate, the universe and human stupidity, but I'm not so sure about the first one." - Einstien.

Actually, I've just put this post in memories, because I've decided that in 15 years or so when my kid decides they love something so much they don't want to take it off for bed/bathe, I can show them this post.

I don't even know how to respond to that.

*laughs*

When you show it to them, can you tell them
Aunti-Ginger posted it???

The Sisters

I was absorbed with the idea of my long ago marriage,
was looking for a picture...

I Googled "Wedding Rings" thinking if I dug long enough
I would find something grim enough.

It was the third photo.

*laughs and chokes*

I'm not the marrying kind.
It still stuns me to realise I did it once.

Some sort of ULTIMATE check-list satisfied?

ok, did THAT....

And here is this photograph of a woman's hand
that has GROWN over her band.

At what point do you decide NOT to stop the growth?

The human body is amazing and bizarre....maybe this happened
because of a bee sting....I don't know.

But it looked like the slow numb growth of empty acceptance.

My brother's marriage.
My parents?

Both still....watching the ring dissolve into their flesh
without feeling.

(oh, BAD ginger...my parents are FINE!)

*head in hands*

How does it EVER happen.
I still do not know.

no, color's all wrong. looks like the inability to care about themselves.

always get jewelry fitted, ring in particuler. if it's too tight and you won't get it fixed don't wear it.

that shit loos painful, too.

Explodex's Ginger

woodwhat found the story.
Yeah, she was unstable and sequestered.

How horrible.

They got it off her...
and put her somewhere safer.

legless

I sat here this morning reading my friends' page and I drank some tea. When I came across this entry, I literally said "What da fuck?" aloud.

And all I can picture is this person trying to wipe his/her ass. The ball of fun has got to get in the way.

Explodex's Ginger

I thought I could be cold and "funny" like my friends
who post shit like this all the time.

I had a POINT, ya know....
But today it just looks so sad.
I feel bad.

At least I could count on YOU
not to make me feel guilty!

has anyone noticed it's on the wrong hand?

maybe the pictures are reversed, but thats the right hand?

if the pictures aren't reversed, perhaps the person is european... i heard not everyone wears the wedding band on the left hand.

(or the picture could be lying and it isn't really a wedding band at all, just a plain ol' ring.)

flash back to a nasty little incident
with a Frenchman in 1997.

I noticed instantly.
Wondered if the negative had been flipped...
(or the pic switched, you're showing your AGE ginger)

But allowed as how I was rather certain everyone would...
get my meaning.

It's everything I never want.
*shudder*
