current song: Acoustic Guitar, The Magnetic Fields

I'm Nervous.
Not really, but a little.
Jitters really--I'm very excited.

The most folks I've ever had over was last Mother's Day,
and that was 8 Stevens' and a zutroy!

I don't think there will be a rush on the place, I've really only
invited my closest Friends, and their schedules are quite different.

There is plenty of mingle-space and sitty places...
Food won't be a problem, Mom slipped me a little party-cash
before I got on the bus yesterday--and I imagine others will bring
along a bowl of this or that.

My fare seems a bit scattered now that I think about it,
but that is what makes Stone Soup more fun...right?

-Enormous plate of spring rolls and dipping sauce
-Cookies for hairypolack
-Organic banana blueberrry muffins for eastland
-torn between hand rolls or proper sushi rolls, time time time....
-Dumplings? (gyoza)

Should I make a spinach salad? The spring rolls have field greens....
hmmmm...
Maybe fruit?

I need to go to the store.
CM always inspires me.

And drinkies...Vodka is always good to start with, and fun juicy mixers
ascertain that my non-drinking folks will have nifty bevies too.

Big pitcher of fresh lemonade...
Good coffee...

Beer just seems to "Happen" in my group, so I won't worry too much
about that....

Food.
Need more ideas for Food.

I have a killer recipe for homemade ginger lemonade - just made it for a bridal shower a few weeks back!

ginger lemonade
teefs

basic lemonade:

1.5 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 12 lemons)
1/2cup sugar
1 cup water

add 1 3in piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated, and 1/4 cup honey

stir until sugar dissolves, then add 5 cups more water, sliced lemon to
garnish.

I made two pitchers of this for a 14-person bridal shower and it was gone in a flash.

happy

I wish I could be your assistant! I don't know if you've finished menu planning, but here's something that goes well with spring rolls:

sesame-soy udon (or soba) noodles:

1 package 8 oz udon or soba
2 tablespoons dark sesame oil
2-3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tsp honey
1-2 scallions

it's easy to make, easy to double (or triple!) the batch, and has gone over splendidly at all the parties i've taken it to. also cheap, and one can add things easily to liven it up.

Don't Panic

You know, I actually was thinking of something VERY much like that!!!
Wow!

Wondering how that will would work as a finger food...
Maybe I could just prep it in little cups and tray it up???

Hmmm...
I have plenty of chop sticks, and I could garnish it with
black and white sesame seeds...

::scribbles into her notebook::

EXCELLENT!

Our brain waves are of similar length today, it appears!

Chopsticks work well, and I tend to put white sesame seeds on the noodles.

(alternately, peanut noodles are good too!)

I made both sesame-soy soba and peanut noodles for the bridal shower (asian themed), so probably that's why all this is still fresh in my mind :)
