That was fun....

July 23rd, 2005 (12:32 am)

I walked home during another spectacular sunset...
a little bit of a sprinkle, huge dark clouds all blushy gold and pink singed,
Botticelli-blue peeking out from behind.

Lugging my canvas bag full of goodies...

It was cool enough to open up my door and windows.
I could hear the families splashing around
in the pool three stories below.

I noticed that the fairy lights in my window had burned out.

I wondered
how long
they had been out
without my even noticing?

I put the groceries away,
and dug into my closet--finally finding
under the mountain of unwash'ed clothes
a fresh box of 100 blue lights.

Pulled down the old ones...still wondering
how I could have not noticed?

They are ALWAYS on.

I've kept different colours up
the entire 5 and a half years
I have lived in this tiny flat....

I plugged in the new ones, freshly draped
on the hooks in the frame of my window--
and some of the folks
down stairs in the pool
hooted and clapped!

I stepped out to admire my work
and wave down to them...

On my table amongst piles of mail and other things
I should be taking care of...
I saw the "Devil Duckie" that zutroy found
in the parking lot of SAVERS, the second to the last time
he was able to visit, before leaving.

Little black rubber duckie with red devil horns.
Bit large for a key-chain.
I squeeked him, and hung him from the silver chord
and hook, that hangs in my window for holiday decorations.

He looks very Stately.
Swinging there...
Proud even.

Well, hell.
House is a Home again.

Amazing what a little light will do for a Gal.

Then I just tucked into the kitchen and busted out
my mise en place for tomorrow.

Made fun by the fact that one is a vegetarian,
who occasionally eats seafood...
And one who is not a vegetarian,
but does not eat seafood.

And the ingredients are USUALLY
mix field greens, cucumber, krab, cream cheese,
and sriracha sauce...wrapped in rice spring roll skins.
(soak skins, place them carefully on a smooth surface,
bunch of field mix in the middle, lay down
seeded four inch long strips of hot-house cucumber,
and a split of "krab", pipe in a blend of cream cheese
and sriracha along the seam of the krab/cucumber
on the nest of greens--and roll. Cut on bias, dip in a sauce
of soy sauce, honey, sesame oil and a touch more sriracha.)

I have cream cheese and sriracha sauce whipped together
and in a piping bag in the fridge.
Strips of hot house seeded cucumber,
dry, but sealed and cold.
Carrots julienned and in water, sealed.
Avocado, ripe and large and at room temp, waiting.
Firm Tofu.
Field greens, spinach, and sunflower sprouts....
Loosely bagged.
And about 75 Vietnamese 9 inch round spring roll skins!

I'm covered.

It's all about Playdough.

When I was the reluctant "Assistant Manager" of ZEN....
This was the thing I really enjoyed doing in the morning.
It required skill...

Making these silly things.

The skins break if you don't let them set up long enough...
if you let them soak too many seconds?

It's fun.

I wanna teach my girl Friend.
Then we'll feed 'em to her Girlfriend!
(the cook in the family)
My other girl Friend!

And I have lites in my window.
Shiny blue ones.

And when hairypolack called and said he'd seen
a sign looking for HELP at a local restaurant that I like...
I didn't tear his head off.

He braced for it.
But it didn't happen.

I said Wow, I'd love to work there!

He says he'll pick up an App for me tonight,
while he's pedi-cabbing the Friday-Night Masses.

My Devil Duckie swings Proudly.
In a blue Glow.

I think I may be back.

He's Fast

Cream cheese and sriracha in a bag is some kind of filthy dream for me. Yum.

Your dreams, are a brand new kind of filth.

I like it.

My devil duckie and it's three rather normal progeny (these things, like horns, skip a generation, you know!) live in the Very Large Bathtub at my place. One day I'll create another virtual tour of Chez Bloodlossgirl-and-Anne, as it is now.
