Greetings from Waxahachie!

(Gotta tap this out quickly before Mum drags me back to pear peelin'....)

Feeling stronger every day, headaches have lessened to a point that I am only taking my pain meds on occasion, when needed. Have gone several days at a time without needing them, but popped a couple this morning. Good days, Bad days.

Hair is coming in slowly but surely--but at this point just accentuates my scars.

Last few days trying some exercises on the bouncy-ball and 20 minutes at a low setting on the stationary-bike... going to be a difficult transition going back to work on my feet, have gotten zer soft in the last two months. Am able to get out and about for several hours at a time now, but still needing a nap when we get back to the house. Shooting for a November return to Austin and a few shifts at Opal's.

(*And yes, those folks at Opal Divine's have kept my job for me through all this.
If you live in Austin--go drop a few bucks there and tell them Ginger says THANK-YOU!)

Baked three different kinds of cookies for an After-Church-Social we had last night at the house here--so much fun! Everyone brought a pot or pan of something yummy and we all sat around laughing and telling stories. My Parents are members of a tiny little Country Church with about 45 members--but quite a mix of folks. The Pastor and his family are actually old friends of ours from our years stationed on Okinawa.

The Stevens' World, is a small World. ^_^

(ooh, and my cookies were Cardamom Meringue Puffs, Peach Mango Short Bread, and of course...my chewy Ginger's Snaps that get made this time of year! Everyone has their own brand of therapy--mine involves baking.)

One of my Folk's friends from Church, a nice old widower named John, brought Mum two bushels from his pear tree yesterday... they are GORGEOUS. And they are a PAIN to peel !!! I best get back to it, before my slave driver cracks the whip....

Pies and loaves in the near future.

(((And Yes, i am enjoying living in Mayberry at the moment.)))
