Am Amazed...

July 14th, 2007 (06:21 pm)

By the experiences I have had in this Town.

Strange and Wild.

waiting tables.

I often envy my Friends their jobs,
their REAL jobs.

But Dude.

I have filled the water glass
of the President of the United States of America.

oh sure, he was just the TX Gov at the time.......

You know when you start a position at TARRY HOUSE.....
you have to sign a release form.

My Mom was on the Jury for a case against U.T.
She of course wouldn't talk about it.
She takes things as seriously as I do, well hell.

(this again, was 1996)

So there I was....
Hearing the U.T. monsters talk about the case.
EVERY DAY as I served them lunch....

(note I am not describing it.....My name is my word, and I signed that paper)

Unable to talk with my Mom about it, and she not able to talk about it....

Well, The Jury saw right from wrong.
Mom busted the bastards I was waiting on.

The Whistle Blower won.

The good guy......won.

Hurray TEXAS!

Mum worked in a Photomat
when I was eight years old in Austin.
In the parking lot across from the MALL--in front of THE PARTY PIG store
on Anderson........back in the day.

Only job besides saving the world, I ever saw her do...
She'd have had a lot less work...if she was a working Mom.

Lady Bird's Daughter used to come by and rent movies from her.
For her Mom.
For Lady Bird.

Back when having a VCR player meant money.

(I'm old)

Austin Stories..........

Funny how much they impact the World?

I'm just a waitress.

I'm just a waitress.

x-ray spex

You're talking about a job that only a handful of people on this planet are truly qualified to do. More people are qualified to be in politics, for chrissakes.

Waitresses have to take abuse from strangers and deal with drama from the kitchen. They walk hundreds of miles a year, all the while balancing plates and keeping track of every little thing. They must empathize, they must listen, they must lay down the law if needs drive.

Without waitresses, people don't eat. I'm not strong enough or clever enough to wait tables. Your job is important, and should anyone try to tell you otherwise, kick 'em the hell out of your section.
