The Short Version

February 28th, 2007 (11:13 pm)

As far as we can put it all together.........she was on the streets for a month.
Her little toenails are worn down to nubs.

Then one afternoon, at the corner of Lamar and Oltorf????
She was just sitting there, with her red collar and no tags.

And this is Austin.

(I don't have the WHOLE story yet, I am taking the gals Ginger-Snap cookies in the
morning and will ask...it takes two days for the dough to be right. *grins*)

A lady in her car saw her sitting there at the corner.
She looked lost.
Opened her car door and called to her.
Maggie came. Maggie is very friendly.

She took Maggie to the South Austin Vet Clinic on South Congress, because (and this
part is what I want to ask, I am uncertain of this part of the story) she works there
or she knows someone who works there.

That is two blocks from where I work.
I drove past her on my scooter for THREE WEEKS not knowing.

They had no tags to work with, but they found her "chip"
and traced her all the way back to Houston--where My Boy's ex wife lives.

Took two weeks, to get this done.
All the while they housed her and fed her.

They Found the ex wife, and she sent an email to His work.
Wildly enough, he was on vacation--in Amsterdam.
Didn't get the email until he came back to work.

ANOTHER week.

Little Brown Brick place on South Congress.......
For the rest of my life I will send anyone looking for a Vet?
To Them.

When The Boy picked up our Maggie, He hugged everyone there, several times.
Then he asked what he owed.

They said: NOTHING, they were just glad little-spotty-dog was going home.

NO REALLY--He said, C'mon???

Nada.

Three weeks.
Room and board.
FREE.

I baked 5 dozen of my Ginger Snaps,
have them all up in a gaudy ribboned basket
and will drop it off in the morning before work.

With more hugs.

Please pass the word, please send your Friends.
The Gals at the South Congress Clinic, that little brown brick building with almost
no signs, next to the florist???

They Love.

They Love a Lot.

Fish are friends

Dice clock is going with this letter:

Dear wonderful animal helping people,

A few weeks ago, you took in a stray white dog, with a black patch over her right eye named Maggie. Maggie belonged to a friend of mine, Ginger Stevens, and her boyfriend, Ben.

Maggie's safe return has meant the world to Ginger and Ben. When she went missing it hit them both quite hard, as it would with anyone who had lost a pet. So when Ginger told me about what you had done to not only take Maggie in, but feed her and go above and beyond the call of duty to track down her owners, I knew I could not let the situation pass by unnoticed.

Therefore, please accept this small gift as a token of appreciation for what you have done for a friend of mine.

Everyone who knows Ginger and Ben thank you from the bottom of their hearts.
