Greetings From Waxahachie Texas!

July 4th, 2008 (03:43 pm)

Finished my shift yesterday afternoon just before 4 PM,
went home and threw all my gear in the car and hit the road...
Surprisingly it was a rather uneventful journey
taking only a little longer than usual.
I had imagined being stuck in traffic easily
to the tune of two or three extra hours.

However, the folks headed SOUTH were bumper to bumper.
A parking lot of misery.
*CRINGE*

I pulled around the corner of my Folks place just after 7 PM, and found my Father...
MOWING THE LAWN.

@_@

Seems he is feeling better?

^_^

The town of Waxahachie had their fire-works display last night,
small towns have the oddest traditions....

Mom and Pop and brother Craig and his wife Loretta and son Corin and Myself
will be heading to the even smaller town of Ennis this evening
to spend the Holiday with their Friends who live out in the country and have a POOL!

(The pile of explosives Craig has gathered to accompany us is a bit frightening)

Hope y'all are having as much fun as I am!!!

The Colonel certainly does bear a striking resemblance to Superman.

Re: visit to austin...
Austin

Congratulations First!

*BEAMS*

I recommend two places with all my heart,
and they are both within a block of each other on South Congress:

The beloved Austin Motel
I have stayed there only once, but I have Friends who will stay no
where else when they come, save my efficiency floor. ^_^

It is reasonably priced, and each room is its own adventure in Austin
Kitch--decorated with themes in vintage. I adore it, and there is a pool.

Perhaps a bit pricier, but not always, is San Jose
A ZEN GARDEN on South Congress, just gorgeous--and a recovered old 'MOTEL'
that locals turned into a bit of wonder.

I love the koi ponds, and the bamboo...the rooms are all lovely
and each unique. They too have a pool.

August is hell here, the hottest month of the year,
so you should be able to get good prices on rooms!

^_^

More later, still decompressing from the drive home.
